Split is a town that grew inside a Roman palace and never moved out. Walls and columns with shutters and washing lines built into them, a waterfront promenade under palms, and bare white mountains rising straight behind. The stone is pale enough to glare at midday and goes honey coloured at the end of the afternoon. People live inside the old walls rather than visiting them, so washing hangs between Roman columns. The pieces here work from that stone and that water, and come as prints, ornaments, coasters and the rest.
