Riga has more art nouveau than almost anywhere, and it is worth looking up for. Faces and creatures carved into the fronts of whole streets, a medieval core of gables and spires beside them, and the Daugava running wide and slow past both. Winter is dark and long, summer barely gets dark at all. A market sits in a row of old zeppelin hangars by the river, which is as strange as it sounds. The pieces here take the ornament and the spires and put them on prints, ornaments and the smaller things.
