Prague is a hundred spires, a castle on the hill and a stone bridge lined with statues. Terracotta roofs running down to the river, baroque fronts in ochre, rose and green, an astronomical clock that draws a crowd on the hour, and fog off the water in the cold months. The colour is that roofline. The castle above is the largest ancient castle complex in the world. Beer is cheaper than water and taken as a staple rather than a treat.
