Manama is a gulf city on an island with a fort on the northern shore, a souk of gold and cloth, and towers of glass along a reclaimed waterfront. Pearl diving built it before oil did, a tree grows alone in the desert with no obvious water source, and burial mounds in their thousands cover part of the island. The island was known in antiquity as a land of pearls and fresh water springs. The pieces here come as prints, ornaments and more.
