The Golden Temple sits in the middle of a tank of still water with a causeway out to it and marble walkways all round. Gold leaf over the upper storeys reflecting in the pool, music from inside carrying across the water, and a kitchen at the side that feeds anyone who comes. The kitchen serves tens of thousands of meals a day, free, to anyone at all. The building is covered in hundreds of kilos of gold. Anyone may enter, of any faith, provided the head is covered.
