Giethoorn is a village with canals instead of roads, reached by boat or by footbridge, with thatched farmhouses on small islands and gardens running down to the water. Peat digging made the waterways centuries ago, punts move quietly along them, and there are more bridges than houses. It is very green and very quiet. There are no roads through the old part of the village at all. The name comes from goat horns found in the peat by the first diggers, who were looking for fuel rather than a village. The pieces here come as prints, ornaments and more.
