Amsterdam is canals in rings with narrow gabled houses leaning slightly over them. Bicycles against every railing, bridges with lights strung along them, dark green water reflecting brick, and a flat grey sky that makes the brick look warmer than it is. The colour is that brick and that water. Hooks at the top of the gables are for hoisting furniture, because the stairs are impossible. More bicycles than people, and they have right of way in practice if not in law. Brown cafes have been serving in the same rooms for centuries. The pieces here come as prints, ornaments and more.
