Utsunomiya is known across the country for its dumplings, which are sold on nearly every street and commemorated with a stone statue. A quarry nearby was worked for a pale volcanic stone used in buildings all over the region, leaving an enormous underground chamber that is now open to visit, and the hills to the north lead towards the shrines at Nikko. The underground quarry is cool enough in summer to be used for concerts and film sets. The pieces here come as prints, ornaments and more.
