Neuschwanstein is a castle built in the nineteenth century to look older than it is, standing on a crag above a gorge with alpine lakes below and mountains behind. White limestone walls and blue turrets, a bridge across the ravine that gives the view everyone knows, and interiors painted with scenes from opera. Snow suits it entirely.
