Kathmandu is brick and carved timber with eyes painted on stupas looking out in four directions. Pagoda temples on stepped plinths around the old squares, prayer flags strung across the gaps, monkeys on the hill temple, and the Himalaya standing on the horizon on a clear morning. The colour is warm brick, dark wood and flag colour. Newar woodcarving on the older buildings is some of the finest anywhere. Three old royal squares sit within a few miles of each other. Momos are steamed on every corner and are the local answer to everything. The pieces here come as prints, ornaments and more.
