Heidelberg castle is a red sandstone ruin on a wooded slope, part renaissance palace and part fortress, left half destroyed by war and lightning and never fully rebuilt. Terraces look out over the roofs of the old town and the river below, a great barrel sits in the cellar, and the stone goes deep rose in the evening light. A lightning strike destroyed the upper tower and it has been left as it fell. The pieces here come as prints, ornaments and more.
