Capri is a limestone rock standing out of the Tyrrhenian with white houses and bougainvillea crowded on top. Two stacks offshore that everyone photographs, a grotto the light turns blue inside, lemon trees, and a funicular up from the little port. The colour is white, deep green and a blue that is genuinely different from the sea elsewhere. Emperors retired here, which tells you the weather has always been good.
