Bergen is wooden warehouses in ochre, red and white standing along a harbour with mountains straight up behind them. It rains most days and nobody pretends otherwise, which is why the colours are painted so strongly in the first place. Funiculars run up to viewpoints, fjords start immediately outside town, and the light in between showers is extraordinary. The old quarter is timber and has burned down and been rebuilt many times over. The work here takes that waterfront and comes as prints, ornaments and the rest.
