Annecy is a lake of almost unreasonable clarity with an old town of canals behind it. A small castle on an island in the middle of a channel, pastel arcaded streets, flowers on every bridge, and alps rising straight out of the far shore. The colour is turquoise water, pastel plaster and mountain grey. The canals were working waterways long before they were pretty. Swimming in the lake is possible because the water is kept unusually clean. An animation festival takes the town over each summer. The pieces here come as prints, ornaments and more.
