Warsaw was flattened and then rebuilt from paintings, which is a fact that changes how you look at it. The old town squares are careful reconstructions in ochre and rose, and behind them stands a city of concrete and new glass that makes no attempt to match. A palace of culture in heavy stone stands over the centre, admired and resented in roughly equal measure. That honesty is interesting to draw. The pieces here take the rebuilt squares and come as prints, ornaments and the things that appear at Christmas.
