Kampala is spread over hills with a view from every one of them. Red earth roads, mosques and cathedrals on separate summits, a lake to the south that is one of the largest in the world, and vegetation that grows back faster than anyone can cut it. The colour is red earth and heavy green. Boda bodas carry everything and everyone through the traffic. The equator crosses the road not far south and is marked with painted circles.
