Houston is flat, hot and much greener than people expect. Glass towers standing alone out of the sprawl, bayous running through neighbourhoods under enormous oaks, and a sky that takes up most of the view because nothing interrupts it. The colour runs warm and hazy. Thunderstorms build in the afternoon and arrive with real violence, then leave everything steaming. It is a skyline city rather than a street city, so the pieces here take the towers and the sky and put them on a wall, a tree or under a cup.
