Chicago is the city that invented the skyline and still takes it seriously. Steel and dark stone going straight up off a flat plain, the river cutting through the middle of it with bridges that lift, and a lake so big it behaves like a sea and throws weather at the place all winter. The colour is grey and rust and the deep green of the water between the buildings. It draws well because the shapes are strong and the grid is honest.
