Barcelona is a grid with the corners cut off, a beach at the bottom of it, and Gaudi's broken tile everywhere you look. The Eixample was laid out with those chamfered corners on purpose, so the city reads as a pattern from above and as a series of small squares from the ground. Colour arrives in fragments here rather than in washes, which is why the mosaic and pop pieces carry it better than anything restrained. It comes as a print for a wall, an ornament for a tree, a coaster and the rest.
